Notification: Using the “Mac Print Driver,” “Mac Print Driver (PPD),” and “Fax Driver” on macOS 27 Golden Gate

When using “Mac Print Driver,” “Mac Print Driver (PPD),” or “Fax Driver” on macOS 27 Golden Gate, printing may fail. The same issue may also occur when upgrading to macOS 27 from macOS Tahoe 26 or earlier.

Cause

The above drivers require the “Rosetta 2” module to operate; however, “Rosetta 2” is not installed on macOS 27. In addition, when upgrading to macOS 27 from macOS 26 or earlier, “Rosetta 2” is removed.

Action for This Issue

  1. To use the printer drivers properly, download and install a version of the driver compatible with macOS 27 that was updated on or after September 14, 2026.
  2. If a dialog prompting you to install Rosetta 2 appears, follow the on-screen instructions to install it.
  3. Alternatively, manually install “Rosetta 2” by following the procedure below.

Procedure

  1. Open the Terminal application.
  2. Enter and run the following command:
    sudo softwareupdate --install-rosetta --agree-to-license

Note: Administrator privileges are required to run this command.
